András Bíró-Nagy

András Bíró-Nagy is Director and Owner of Policy Solutions. He is also Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Social Sciences and Board Member of the Hungarian Political Science Association. Previously, he worked at the European Commission as political adviser to László Andor, EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion. He comments regularly on Hungarian and European politics both to Hungarian and international press. His publications mainly focus on Hungarian politics, radical right parties, contemporary social democracy and the politics of the European Union. András Bíró-Nagy holds a PhD in Political Science from the Corvinus University of Budapest, and an Msc in Public Policy and Administration from the London School of Economics.


Gábor Győri

Senior analyst at Policy Solutions. Previously he worked as an analyst at the Prime Minister's Office and at Hungarian think tanks. He studied in the United States and received an MA in International Relations from the University of Chicago and a BA in Social Studies from Harvard University. He speaks English and German fluently and has a basic understanding of French.


Áron Szászi

Áron Szászi is a political analyst at Policy Solutions. He also researches Euroscepticism at the Centre for Social Sciences. He earned a BA in Commerce and Marketing at the Corvinus University of Budapest, and holds an MA in Political Science from the Central European University. During his studies, he was a member of Rajk College for Advanced Studies, where he also taught Political Science after his graduation. Previously, he participated in research projects of the Hungarian Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade, the European University Institute and social research company Tárki. His expertise are political analysis, public opinion research and survey experiments. Currently, his research interests lie in political polarization and COVID-19-related attitudes, primarily vaccine hesitancy.


Gergely Laki

Gergely Laki is political analyst at Policy Solutions. After studying International Economics at the Université de Picardie’s Budapest-based BSc programme and Political Communication as a fellow at Sciences Po Paris, he received his MA in Political Science from Corvinus University of Budapest.  He is currently working on his PhD dissertation at the Doctoral School of Political Science of Corvinus University. Previously he gained experience in journalism at Brussels and in research at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Media-related issues, populist parties, and European as well as Hungarian political developments are in the focus of his works.


Attila Varga

Attila Varga is a political analyst at Policy Solutions. He received his BA degree in Psychology from Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary and after that he studied MA in Social and Organisational Psychology at the Eötvös Loránd University. He is currently studying Survey Statistics and Data Analysis at Eötvös Loránd University. He participated in the internship program of Political Capital in 2020, and he started to work at Policy Solutions in 2021, with the scholarship of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung. His areas of interest include collective victimhood in far-right groups and the psychological background of political trust.


Kristóf Molnár

Kristóf Molnár is a political analyst at Policy Solutions. He started his studies at Pázmány Péter Catholic University, majoring in political science with a minor in international studies. Currently, he is pursuing an MA in Public Policy and Management at Corvinus University of Budapest. His previous experiences include working at the Hungarian Parliament and Political Capital, alongside volunteering at the European Parliament and K-Monitor. He is a member of the editorial board of the 2024 edition of Vokskabin. He joined Policy Solutions in 2023 as a stipendiary of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung. His areas of interest include the political values of the Hungarian society, the social consequences of corruption, and EU policies.


Richárd Demény

Richárd Demény is a political analyst at Policy Solutions. Previously, he gained professional experience at the British Embassy in Budapest, as well as at the British Chamber of Commerce and Political Capital Institute. He is currently studying MSc European and International Public Policy at the London School of Economics. He holds a BSc degree in Financial Management from the International Business School Budapest as well as BSc in Politics and International Relations from the University of Southampton. His works mainly focus on Hungarian politics, the European Union, green politics and far-right parties. 


About Us

Policy Solutions is a progressive political research institute based in Budapest. It was founded in 2008 and it is committed to the values of liberal democracy, solidarity, equal opportunity, sustainability and European integration. The focus of Policy Solutions’ work is on understanding political processes in Hungary and the European Union. Among the pre-eminent areas of our research are the investigation of how the quality of democracy evolves, the analysis of factors driving euroscepticism, populism and the far-right, and election research.
